SPARDOX SR-GTP, SR-GTPH PEDAL SOFTWARE

The SPARDOX SR-GTP1 pedal comes with a dedicated calibration software that allows you to configure pedal sensitivity, dead zones, and force settings according to your preferences.

Initial Setup

The pedals have four mounting slots on each pedal base. The size of the screws for these slots will be M6 (6 millimeters). Possible mounting solutions include aluminum profiles, medium-density fiberboard flooring, or a pedal base plate.
Please note that the maximum force of the brake pedal is 200 kilograms. You must mount the pedals on a very solid base.

Electronics Installation

Each pedal must be connected to the USB control device that comes with the pedal set.
The control device is a small box with a metal case labeled “SPARDOX”. Each pedal has a cable with a registered jack (RJ) at the end.
Before starting the game, you must calibrate your SPARDOX pedals. Therefore, you need to connect the registered jack of each pedal to the appropriate port on the control device.

The ports on the control device are already labeled. If you have a two-pedal set without a clutch, you can leave the clutch port empty.
In the next step, connect the provided USB cable. One end of the cable should be connected to the control device, and the other end should be plugged directly into your computer.

Make sure the cable is always slightly loose. This helps prevent damage to plugs, sockets, and electronic devices.
If you are using a motion platform for a racing simulator, secure the USB cable to the platform frame before connecting it to the control device.

With SPARDOX Control, you can configure the (non-linear) pedal output curve, adjust pedal dead zones, and change the brake pedal force.
All settings can be saved to a configuration file and reloaded with one click.
Settings applied in SPARDOX Control will take effect in any simulator software without additional adjustments, reassigning controls, or recalibration.

SPARDOX Control Settings – Calibration

SPARDOX Control also includes a calibration wizard. Since your pedals are not pre-calibrated during the mounting process, calibration must be performed before first use.
The only cases where recalibration is required in SPARDOX Control are:

1. If mechanical adjustments have been made to the throttle or clutch pedal ends.
2. If mechanical adjustments have been made to the brake pedal.

Throttle, Clutch, and Brake Dead Zone Adjustment

In SPARDOX Control, you can set both lower and upper dead zones for the throttle, clutch, and brake pedals.

• Lower Dead Zone: At the start of pedal movement, a specific range where no output data is generated. The default value is 5%.
• Upper Dead Zone: At the end of pedal movement, reaching 100% output earlier and stopping additional output data generation. The default value is 5%.

Throttle and clutch dead zones are represented as a percentage of the total pedal movement. You can monitor the effect of dead zone adjustments in real-time using the blue vertical signal output bar.

SPARDOX Control Calibration Settings

Since sim pedals use soft end stops, small signal fluctuations may occur when the pedals are at rest or fully pressed.
Therefore, it is recommended to always set at least a 5% lower and upper dead zone.
This allows you to achieve 0% or 100% pedal output without forcing the pedals into their end stop positions.

For the clutch pedal, a larger upper dead zone may affect the clutch engagement point (bite point), i.e., the point where the vehicle starts moving when the clutch is released.
This depends largely on the vehicle models used. A larger lower dead zone can prevent unwanted clutch slip caused by resting your foot on the pedal.

Brake Lower Dead Zone Adjustment

The preload rubber damper applies a small force to the sensor.
After calibration in SPARDOX Control, this initial force is converted to a 0% output.

To engage the brakes, a specific initial force must be applied.
The lower dead zone provides additional balance to ensure full braking force can be reached easily.

The lower dead zone is adjusted as a percentage of the brake force.
For example, with a 30 kg brake force and a 5% dead zone, the load cell registers 1.5 kg of force before the brake pedal output starts.
You can monitor this in real-time on the green vertical signal output bar.

Your brake pedal has a two-stage system:

1. First, a metal coil spring is compressed to simulate the brake travel.
2. The main braking force is simulated by compressing the rubber damper.

A larger lower dead zone might be useful only if you want the simulator to engage the brakes only after the metal coil spring is fully compressed.

Brake Force Adjustment

SPARDOX Control allows you to set the maximum force of the brake pedal.
This setting is expressed in kilograms (kg) and represents the actual brake force applied when your foot presses the pedal (for an average-sized foot).

When you apply the maximum force you set, the simulator software will receive a 100% braking output signal.
The maximum simulated pedal braking force is 200 kg.

How you set the maximum brake force depends on personal preference.
Even in real racing scenarios, the required maximum braking force varies significantly, as it depends on the size of the brake cylinders and other components installed in race cars.
In general, faster cars with more downforce require greater brake forces compared to slower cars with less downforce.

Throttle, Brake, and Clutch Mapping

One of the key features of SPARDOX Control is the ability to create custom signal output mappings for each pedal.

In traditional racing simulators, pedal output is linearly related to pedal input.
SPARDOX Control allows you to map non-linear output curves using five zones (six input parameters).

Each pedal has a dropdown menu with predefined output curves.
You can also create a custom curve and set the desired pedal output percentage at the 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% scale positions.
